Use current market values, not original purchase costs. Every value and optional unit price must use this same currency. Changing the label does not convert currencies.

Asset 1

Targets must total 100%. Use a distinct label for each row. A target of zero means exit that asset in buy/sell mode; new-money-only mode never sells it.

A target of 40% and a 5 percentage-point threshold has boundaries of 35% and 45%. Reaching either boundary triggers a full plan toward targets, not just a trim to the boundary. New cash is allocated even inside the band; no-sales mode never sells.

Cash is additional to the listed holdings; avoid listing it twice. The same percentage fee is charged on each model trade. Combined portfolio and new cash must not exceed 1e12. No fixed fees or taxes are included.

Paste holdings from a spreadsheet

Copy 3 or 4 tab-separated columns: name, current value, target percentage, optional unit price. Use plain numbers without currency symbols or thousands separators. An optional Name or Asset header is accepted. Targets must already total 100%.

MODEL TRADE PLAN

What changes would reach your allocation?

Enter holdings, choose target weights and calculate.

This values trades at your supplied amounts. Optional unit quantities are fractional estimates, not executable orders. Check market prices, available cash, fees, taxes and lot sizes with your broker. Nothing is submitted to a broker.

Detailed trade ledger

Positive trade values mean buy; negative values in CSV mean sell. The table labels the direction explicitly. Scroll horizontally on a small screen to see all columns. Unit estimates use the optional price you supply; an omitted price does not prevent cash-based planning.

How buy/sell mode accounts for fees

Let V be each holding's current value, w its target fraction and r the common trade-fee fraction. The calculator solves for the investable total T after fees: T + r × sum(|w × T − V|) = current portfolio + new cash. Each trade is w × T − V. This pays fees from the same funds instead of recommending trades that require extra unbudgeted cash.

How new-money-only mode works

No position is sold. The buying budget is new cash ÷ (1 + fee rate). The calculator raises underweight positions toward their target proportions: buy amount = max(0, w × level − current value), with the level chosen so all buys use that budget. Existing overweight positions remain unchanged. The result can therefore retain allocation gaps; they are shown explicitly. With no new cash, this mode makes no trades.

Crypto portfolio rebalancing: when does the threshold trigger?

The gap is current allocation minus target allocation in percentage points. A BTC weight of 46% against a 40% target has a +6 p.p. gap. With a 5 p.p. trigger, this is outside the band. The trigger checks the largest absolute gap before trades. Inside the band with no new cash, the model holds every asset and charges no trading fees. Adding cash runs the selected allocation method even if no band is breached.

Calendar reviews, threshold rules and a combination of both are different policies; no frequency is universally best. This planner checks one snapshot and does not monitor markets, send alerts or act as a rebalancing bot. You choose targets and decide whether to execute trades.

Worked example

Hold 600 of an equity fund and 400 of a bond fund, target 50% each, add 100 cash and charge a 1% fee on each trade. Buy/sell mode sells 51 of equity and buys 149 of bonds. Fees are 0.51 + 1.49 = 2, leaving 549 in each fund and 1,098 invested. New-money-only mode instead buys about 99.0099 of bonds and pays about 0.9901 in fees. It makes no sale, so the final weights are still slightly away from 50/50.

Limits and interpretation

You choose the targets; the calculator does not decide which allocation is suitable. Value mode uses market values you enter. Crypto mode multiplies your quantities by manually entered or optional CoinGecko USD price snapshots. CoinGecko timestamps are checked on load; snapshots never refresh automatically and may differ from exchange execution prices. Stablecoin prices are not assumed to equal one dollar. It does not estimate capital-gains taxes, fixed commissions, spread, slippage, interest, price moves during execution or whole-unit constraints. It does not optimize tax lots. Tiny model differences and residual cash can occur with floating-point arithmetic; cash values shown are rounded, while CSV preserves model precision. The displayed unit magnitude follows the same buy/sell direction as its trade value. Keep idle cash outside the listed holdings when treating it as a new contribution.
