Set up your calculation
Historical requests go directly to Coinbase Exchange after you calculate. Only the market and date range are sent; contribution amounts are calculated in your browser.
YOUR SIMULATION
Net liquidation value

Choose a calculation type and enter your contribution.
The lump-sum comparison assumes your entire contribution total was available on the first purchase date. It ignores interest on cash awaiting investment. Historical results do not predict future returns.
Contributions versus portfolio value
Teal: net value after a hypothetical sale at each point. Grey: cumulative contributions. Historical mode uses each recorded daily close; manual mode uses only the prices you entered. The chart samples long ranges for display; calculations and the exported ledger use all scheduled purchases.

Historical backtest or manual model?
Historical mode answers “What if I had invested this amount in BTC, ETH or SOL on these dates?” It uses the selected Coinbase Exchange USD market, not a consolidated global price. It does not backtest stocks, ETFs, dividends or other coins. Manual mode supports any asset price sequence in one currency, labelled USD here, and requires you to supply every price.
Schedule and valuation rules
The first purchase occurs on the start date. Weekly means exactly seven days from that date. Monthly keeps the original day number, using the last day of shorter months: January 31, February 28 or 29, March 31. The last purchase is the latest scheduled date at or before the valuation date. Purchases and valuations use the UTC daily closing price; they are not opening prices or actual achievable execution quotes. The final net value deducts the selling fee once from a hypothetical full liquidation.
Worked manual example
With no fees, investing 100 at prices 100, 50 and 100 buys 1 + 2 + 1 = 4 units. Total contributions are 300. At an exit price of 100, the value is 400 and the gain is 100, or 33.33%. A lump sum of 300 at the first price buys 3 units and ends at 300. That comparison assumes all 300 was available at the start.
Data and limitations
Coinbase Exchange daily candles provide the historical closing prices. The provider limits each request to 300 candles, so longer ranges load in batches. Historical data can be incomplete. If a required day is unavailable, this tool stops and identifies it; it does not silently substitute another date or invented price. A provider outage or rate limit requires retrying or switching to an explicitly manual scenario.
The model excludes fixed transaction fees, gas, spread, slippage, staking, lending income, dividends, taxes and cash interest. It does not reconstruct your actual account. Fractional units are allowed. ROI is net gain divided by total contributions; it is not an annualized or money-weighted return. Cash totals use floating-point arithmetic and displayed values are rounded. Small prices may use scientific notation. No investment recommendation is made.
