Dividend Income Goal Calculator
Estimate the capital and shares needed for your chosen annual or monthly net dividend target.
Your inputs
Use consistent units and periods. Defaults are examples.
Your result
Check the assumptions below before relying on a result.
Formula and method
Annual cash target = entered target × periods per year. If gross yield is supplied, annual dividend per share = price × gross yield/100. Net dividend per share = annual dividend × (1 − withholding fraction). Required shares = annual target ÷ net dividend; round up only in whole-share mode. Required capital = required shares × assumed price.
Worked example
A target of 500 per month is 6,000 annually. At 2 annual dividends per share and a 50 share price, 3,000 shares cost 150,000 before fees. A 25% withholding assumption raises required shares to 4,000 and capital to 200,000.

Open calculator ↗How to use this result
- Enter the cash income you want and choose monthly average or annual.
- Use annual dividend per share and a price from the same currency.
- Enter a withholding assumption only if you want that cash deduction included.
- Treat the result as a scenario and repeat with a lower dividend.
Questions about this calculation
Why does the tool round shares up?
When whole shares are required, rounding down would fail to reach the chosen income target.
Can I enter a dividend yield instead?
Yes. Choose gross annual dividend yield. The calculation converts it to annual dividend per share using the entered price, then applies the withholding assumption.
How long would it take to save the required capital?
Use the existing savings-goal tool. This page solves the required holding, not the time needed to build it.
