Annual budget and sinking funds

See twelve months of income, allocations and irregular-cost reserves.

Download Annual budget and sinking funds (.xlsx)

Includes a blank “Your plan” worksheet and an “Example” worksheet. All example numbers are invented. Version 1 · 16 October 2026.

What this file does

Plan monthly income, housing, everyday costs, debt, annual bills, repairs and savings. A yearly total and monthly remainder make seasonal pressure visible without pretending every month is identical.

How to use it

  1. Download and keep a fresh copy of the original.
  2. Open “Your plan” and type into the blue input cells. Black cells contain formulas.
  3. Enter each month in columns B–M. Use separate reserve rows for known future bills. Read the annual totals in column N and the available-cash row at 17.
  4. Review the Example tab to understand the calculation, then reconcile your entries with your own records.

Reproduce the example

The example uses $4,000 income and $2,450 allocations per month. Annual available cash is $18,600. Adding $1,000 to January income raises it to $19,600.

Scope and limits

Reserve transfers and the later payment they fund need consistent treatment. Counting both as new expenses exaggerates spending. This workbook plans cash allocations; it does not calculate interest on reserves.

Inputs remain in the file you use. The workbook contains no account integration, macros or external feeds. Uploading it to a cloud spreadsheet service is your own action and subject to that service's settings. Keep financial files private.

Open in Excel or import into Google Sheets

In Excel, open the XLSX and allow normal formula recalculation. In Google Sheets, use File → Import → Upload, choose the file and create a new spreadsheet. Check the Example tab values above after import before entering personal data. Native Google Sheets rendering has not been independently verified; formatting or calculation differences should be checked.
