Rotki: portfolio workflow and limits
A local-first option for reviewing crypto-related balances and history without treating every position as a simple listed-stock holding.
Edition and operating model
Desktop
Selected cost and free boundaries
Open-source local application; premium features, third-party APIs and integrations have separate terms.
Keeping records
Local-first crypto and financial-history accounting using supported exchanges, chains and manual records.
Limits to check
Local data storage does not mean external blockchain/API requests never occur. Chain support, historical event classification and premium limits vary. No tax-jurisdiction acceptance or authenticated exchange integration was tested.
A practical migration test
Inspect current licence and supported chain/exchange, then reconcile a transfer between your own accounts before treating it as income or spending. Test data backup and export.
Preserve an independent copy of dated trades, fees, cash flows and valuation sources. Import compatibility and a displayed market value do not prove a fully reconciled return history. Try a small copied example and inspect export before replacing your primary record.
Primary evidence
