Float: cash forecast workflow and boundaries

A short-term cash-management workflow for forecasting from accounting balances, invoices and bills.

Planning model

Short-term cash

Access and package boundaries

Provider offers a 14-day trial; accounting-data and selected plan requirements apply.

Data and planning workflow

Xero and QuickBooks Online source data; weekly/13-week and longer views, scenarios and export.

Limitations to verify

Float states that bank data arrives through accounting software, not a direct bank connection. A current accounting balance does not make future collection dates certain. Check reconciliation and plan requirements.

A practical trial task

Reconcile the opening bank balance, move one expected collection date and compare a weekly low point with the underlying daily timing.

Keep the original accounting report and a dated list of forecast overrides. Reconcile opening cash, avoid double-counting actuals and projected invoices, and export a small scenario before relying on the software for your primary planning record.

Primary evidence
